IFHE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE December 2009

First of all I convey to all IFHE members compliments of the season, and best wishes for the new year 2010.
I have been reviewing my message of December 2008 and following to my best wishes of health and peace, I am going to repeat and recall my objectives as they were expressed last year, always in the same direction, aiming to improve communication among us.

My message this year is based on the words I addressed to the council members attending the CM 42 in Buenos Aires , first of November 2009 :
On the LIBRARY: Please visit the IFHE web page and enter into the Library section. There are classified several articles selected from the Barcelona IFHE Congress you may download. The Library is waiting for more papers from all around the world

It was agreed by the Executive Committee that the Library is a good initiative , contributing to the communication and collaboration among the IFHE members
I will write personally by e-mail to all IFHE council members asking for articles to be included in the virtual Library. I expect a fluid correspondence
The articles may come from the Journals published by A members or from National Congresses. These articles , once selected by the council member, can be sent to me by e-mail in the original language of the author, preceded by an abstract in English.

On the global PARTICIPATION: On papers, magazines, web pages, we may find spaces for individual participation in sections like LETTERS OF THE READERS
¿ Why not to create this kind of section in our web site ? This will only be possible if the IFHE members as individuals wish to communicate personal comments on subjects proposed for discussion. We think that the interchange of ideas could be interesting for the readers. This section aims to improve the frequency of visits to the IFHE web page
My next President’s message will insist in several topics of general worldwide interest

On the education by E – LEARNING technology. Accepted in principle that this kind of initiative deserves consideration, I will continue working on the development of an on-line Planning and Design of Health Centers Program, based on the experience of an existing Program for master graduation conducted and controlled in Spain through the means and technology of the Open University of Catalonia, UOC, with whom I collaborate.

One Course will be given in English with participation, as Professors and Consultants, of specialists from all parts of the world ( English speaking countries ).
Other Course in parallel will be given in Spanish for Latin American countries.
We are thinking on several differentiated proposals, for developing countries, for industrial countries,..

It could be a complete program equivalent to a Master degree, or partial programs of Postgrade. Also we’ll propose seminars on line, or debates on line ,on particular subjects.. The objective is not only a title given by a University, the aim is to create a network of communication in a virtual classroom, a space, where all participants from different nations and cultures will be able to exchange knowledge.

I'll come again in the short future with more information. The Program will be scheduled to be presented with all details and documentation to the next Council Meeting in Tokyo, but before this date the President expects collaboration from the Executive Committee Members to perform and approve internal organization schemes.
